The FPA has announced that the theme of its 2009 National Conference in Melbourne will be ’The Professional Edge’.
To be held from 18 to 20 November at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the Conference will be opened by the Chair of the Victorian Bushfire Recovery Taskforce, Christine Nixon.
FPA CEO, Jo-Anne Bloch, said the choice of Ms Nixon to open the Conference was “…a fitting tribute to the victims of Black Saturday, to our members who have volunteered their services through pro bono advice or the Future2 Appeals Campaign, and to the Victorian community who have suffered so much.”
On the theme of The Professional Edge, Ms Bloch commented that the FPA is keen to highlight the importance of professionalism and the need to build on skills and knowledge, particularly at a time of economic downturn.
“The industry has experienced a great deal of change since last year’s conference, so it is important for financial planners to be up to date with the ever changing profession,” said Ms Bloch.
The FPA advises this event is the largest annual gathering of financial planners and licensees in the Asia Pacific region.
