Aviva Roadshow/Latest Acquisition News

Aviva has embarked on a national adviser roadshow, coinciding with the completion of its acquisition by National Australia Bank and its wealth management arm, MLC.

The theme that combines the key topics in the roadshow presentations is ‘Making the future happen‘, with senior MLC and Aviva executives updating advisers across three major areas:

  1. Details regarding the nab/MLC acquisition of Aviva
  2. Introduction of Separately Managed Accounts (SMA’s) into the Aviva online platform
  3. Aviva Riskfirst and Protectionfirst updates

Richard Nunn, Executive General Manager Advice and Marketing for MLC and NAB Wealth, stressed the intention to minimise the impact to advisers and their clients of bringing together the two wealth management and insurance businesses of MLC and Aviva.

…the acquisition of Aviva presented an opportunity for MLC to re-establish a greater connection with the independent financial adviser market

Mr Nunn said that the acquisition of Aviva presented an opportunity for MLC to re-establish a greater connection with the independent financial adviser market.  He added that this process was already under way prior to the Aviva acquisition by way of:

  • Recent sales team reorganisation
  • Key appointments
  • Increased IFA coverage by BDM’s

Mr Nunn suggested to advisers that the combined entity would enhance its value proposition in the areas of:

  • Capability
  • Customer Focus
  • Scale
  • Distribution

Mr Nunn also assured advisers that all current dealer arrangements, including remuneration structures, would continue be honoured within the new entity, which becomes the largest insurer in Australia by in-force premiums.

Stuart Fechner, Aviva’s Distribution Development Manager - Investments, outlined to advisers the nature of Separately Managed Accounts, how they are positioned in between shares and managed funds, and the benefits of now including SMA’s in Aviva’s investment, superannuation and retirement income platforms.

Completing the roadshow presentations, Distribution Development Manager - Protection for Aviva, Russell Hannah, outlined the recent initiatives surrounding Aviva’s Protectionfirst product range and its riskfirst online platform.  Advisers can access details of these initiatives in recent riskinfo articles:
