OnePath has made changes to its underwriting approach for pregnant women applying for its Income Secure cover.

Expectant mothers can now apply for agreed value Guaranteed or Flexi-guaranteed cover, whereas previously they could only be covered under an indemnity contract.

The guaranteed cover is available for women who are currently working and confirm their intention to return to full-time work within 12 months of giving birth.  For women who intend to return to part-time work in the same position, they will now be eligible for indemnity cover.

OnePath says the changes are an example of its commitment to providing greater certainty and flexibility for young families.

In other OnePath news, OnePath Life has been appointed as the group insurer for LGsuper.

The appointment, made following a tender process in late 2011, will represent an increase to OnePath’s annual premium of more than $20 million.

The decision to re-evaluate its insurance provider came after LGsuper merged with City Super in July 2011.

This appointment reflects the alignment between our group insurance strategy and LGsuper’s business definition of value.
