Christine Swanson, Director of Prominent Financial Services and finalist in the 2012 AFA Female Excellence in Advice Award, will take on the role, made vacant following the elevation of previous Chair, Deborah Kent, to AFA President.

Launched last year, the Inspire initiative is designed to celebrate and motivate women working in the financial advice profession, and connect them to guidance and support networks. Inspire is part of the AFA’s Communities of Practice, which also includes GenXt (for new advisers) and Leaders Forum (for experienced advisers and practice owners).

Ms Kent said she was delighted that Ms Swanson had been appointed Inspire Chair, and acknowledged her work to date as a founding member of the national Inspire team.

“Christine has already made a wonderful contribution to the South Australia AFA Inspire initiative, running regular breakfast events which have opened up valuable networking and professional development opportunities,” Ms Kent said.

“She will now be leading the AFA Inspire team at a national level to deliver more networking, coaching, mentoring, leadership and personal growth opportunities.

“Under Christine’s stewardship, AFA Inspire will continue to nurture a community of individuals who are passionate about empowering more women to establish and develop their careers as a financial adviser or as a support role to the delivery of financial advice,” Ms Kent added.

The AFA is set to launch Inspire in WA at the end of this month, featuring guest speaker and 2014 Female Excellence in Advice Award winner, Kate McCallum. The launch will complete the six state rollout of the Inspire initiative, which began in May 2013.
