Industry Veteran Honoured with OAM

Author and former financial adviser, Russell Collins, has received a Medal of the Order of Australia, General Division, in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

Mr Collins, who recently launched his new book, Skills that Succeed, is the Principal of Risk Insurance Communications Skills. Prior to undertaking the consulting business, Mr Collins worked for forty years as an adviser specialising in risk insurance.

He received the OAM for his service to business, particularly to the financial planning industry. The OAM is awarded to individuals for service worthy of particular recognition. Nominations come directly from the community, and are bestowed by the Governor General of Australia.

A distinguished presenter, Mr Collins holds the Australian record for most times presenting at the MDRT Annual Meeting (five), is a life member of the Association of Financial Advisers and winner of the Association’s inaugural Award of Merit in 2003.

Mr Collins said he was extremely honoured to have received the OAM.

“Financial advising has been both my life and my passion and it is wonderful to be recognised for work that I love doing and which I believe makes a significant difference to the lives of everyday Australians.”
