TAL has appointed the former Head of Life Product at CommInsure, Sally Phillips to the newly created role of General Manager, Health Services.
Phillips’ appointment is part of a new investment in health services by TAL with Phillips overseeing the development of its new Health Sense: Fit for Life proposition.
TAL, Chief Operating Officer, Justin Delaney said TAL regarded health services as part of the business of a life insurance company and had made the new investment into a health services capability as a result of the changing health behaviours of Australians.
“We aim to improve the complete customer experience through improved medical and health capabilities – from improved insight and competencies of medical definitions in product design to enhanced customer rehabilitation and broader customer wellness initiatives,” Delaney said.

“We believe Health Sense: Fit for Life will be a program that will make a difference in this space and it will evolve with new initiatives and tools with Dr Phillips having a significant input into this,” Delaney said, adding that Phillips would work with TAL’s business teams to support the development of the health service proposition and the development of new market developments.
Prior to joining TAL, Phillips held the role of Head of Life Product and Strategy at CommInsure from January to March of this year and prior to that held underwriting and claims roles at Macquarie Life for more than seven years, preceded by seven years as Head of Underwriting and CMO at Discovery Life.
