MLC has re-appointed former senior staffer Russell Hannah to the newly created position of General Manager, Retail Advised Insurance Sales.
Hannah returns to MLC after more than a year and a half at BT Financial Group where he was State Manager for NSW and ACT following three and half years with MLC where he held the roles of National Distribution Manager and then National Manager – Insurance and Acting Head of Sales – Retail Wealth Products.
MLC stated Hannah will be responsible for the life insurer’s retail advised insurance team while overseeing distribution and sales, and the management of key accounts and specialist insurance functions.
MLC, General Manager of Retail Advised Insurance, Melissa Heyhoe, said the appointment of Hannah was part of MLC’s moves to becoming a standalone life insurance company.
”As we transition into a specialist insurance business, it’s imperative that we have end-to-end ownership and accountability for the way our business services and supports advisers. Russell’s appointment will ensure we are at the forefront of driving organisational and broader industry change.”
Hannah’s appointment is the third senior position filled since late April with MLC, Head of Sales for Strategic Accounts and Independent Financial Advisers, Michael Downey promoted to Head of Practice Development in late May to work with advisers within MLC licences to grow their businesses.
In late April, MLC also promoted the previous Head of Practice Development, Jasia Fabig, into the newly created role of MLC Advice, General Manager where she will oversee the integration of MLC Advice into the Advice Partnerships model run by parent group NAB.
At the close of 2015, MLC also promoted the Head of MLC Advice Network, Vanessa Rowe to the position of General Manager of MLC Direct, filling the role previously held by NAB, Wealth Advice, Executive General Manager, Greg Miller prior to his appointment to that role.
