Former Macquarie Life National Underwriting Manager, Mary Sinclair-Porter has taken on the same role at Zurich and will report through to Zurich Life and Investments Chief Underwriting Officer, Tina Beilby, who has also appointed three Underwriting Managers across NSW, QLD and VIC/WA/SA.

Former Macquarie Life Chief Medical Officer, Dr Matthew Paul and Financial Underwriting & Claims Manager, Tony Baker have also taken on similar roles with Zurich and will work with the insurer’s Reinsurance Partners and its newly developed Underwriting Centre of Technical Excellence team.

Alongside the new appointments, Zurich Underwriting Manager, Matthew Apps has stepped into the role of National Underwriting Manager, Distribution in which he will be involved in offering underwriting-BDM services to advisers.

Zurich stated that the appointments and merging of the two teams has added 16 additional members to its underwriting team, including those working on its Health Connect Tele-underwriting team.

“We have acquired great underwriting, tele-underwriting and claims expertise and now have a number of key roles working across both claims and underwriting,” Beilby said.

“With our wider product suite including Zurich Active, Sumo and FutureWise, we’re ensuring our service adds value by leveraging a more diverse underwriting approach and gaining access to additional key reinsurers.”
