AFA Excellence in Education Award Winner Announced

The AFA has named Perth based adviser, Michael Ward of Maxim Private Wealth, as the winner of the 2017 AFA Excellence in Education Award.

The Association also took the unusual step of presenting a Highly Commended Award to Brisbane based Helen Russo, from Encompass Wealth – Financial Life Planning, in recognition of the high calibre of this year’s finalists.

The Awards, which are now in their tenth year and are supported by Asteron Life, were presented at the AFA National Adviser Conference on the Gold Coast.

According to the AFA, the Award is given to advisers who have shown commitment to professional development including formal education, practical application of that education, contribution to the profession through education and contribution to their community through education.

Nick Hakes, General Manager Member Services, Partnerships & Campus AFA, said Ward excelled in all areas of the judging criteria and been successful academically and had also developed high level client focus and coaching self-development skills that were valued by clients.

Asteron Life Executive Manager, Daniel Waller said, “We’re delighted to recognise Michael for his energy and commitment to ongoing education which will raise the quality of his advice, inspire his peers and help strengthen the profile of the advice profession. I would also like to highly commend Helen Russo for her significant achievements in furthering her education.”

Ward will receives a $25,000 education scholarship, and Russo a $10,000 scholarship, from Kaplan Professional.
