OneCare Offers Mental Health Support to IP Claimants

ANZ Wealth will offer mental health support to OneCare customers who lodge income protection claims relating to depression or anxiety.

The support will be offered by Remedy Healthcare under a pilot scheme which will provide complimentary, tailored phone based support as well as access to a registered nurse to visit policy holders at home and guide them through the claims assessment process.

ANZ Wealth Head of Life Insurance, Gerard Kerr said the service was being offered due to the increasing levels of mental illness claims in life and disability insurance with approximately 11% of OneCare’s total claims paid over the past 12 months being due to a mental illness.

“It’s important that we not only provide financial support to customers who experience anxiety and depression, but also respond to the mental health challenges they may face, particularly at claim time,” Kerr said.

“Both of these initiatives form part of ANZ Wealth’s broader response to supporting customer health and wellbeing, offering a highly personalised service in the comfort of their home,” he added.

Kerr said ANZ Wealth and OneCare were seeking feedback from financial advisers and their clients during the pilot to improve the levels of support available to the latter.
