TAL has appointed a new head of claims, promoting a current senior staffer based in South Africa to the role.
TAL General Manager – International Life Solutions, Loraine van Eeden will take on the role of TAL General Manager, Claims previously held by Mary Maini, who has left TAL for personal reasons.
Van Eeden, who joined TAL in October 2016, will start in the new role in the insurer’s Sydney office from 2018 and will be responsible for overseeing claims management across all of TAL’s distribution channels.
Prior to joing TAL, van Eeden previously worked as the Head of Swiss Re’s Life and Health Claims proposition in their London and Zurich offices. In that role van Eeden had responsibility for the design and management of Swiss Re’s claims functions across the Asian, European and Latin American markets.
TAL Chief Operating Officer, Justin Delaney, said the insurer carried out an extensive internal and external search for this role and van Eeden’s depth of experience compared favourably to the best in the market,
“We are investing more in the claims experience than any other part of our business and we are pleased to have Loraine join us after a record year for TAL’s claims team,” Delaney said.
