Synchron has appointed one of its own advisers as the incoming NSW State Manager following the decision of the incumbent to focus on his own practice.

Matthew Wallis (L) with Synchron Director, Don Trapnell

Straightforward Financial Planning Director, Matthew Wallis will step into the role from 1 April, succeeding Paul Del Grande who has been in the role since mide-2006, and has resigned to further build his practice, InSync Financial Services.

Wallis, who has been with Synchron for five years, will be selling his practice to take on the full time State Manager role and will work with Del Grande until the end of March 2018.

Announcing the appointment, Synchron Director, Don Trapnell said Wallis was a good fit for the role and had a good understanding of advice businesses through his work as an adviser and business development manager roles with AIG, AIA Australia and Asteron Life.

“Matthew joined Synchron in 2013 and is a graduate of five Synchron NextGen conferences. He has spent his working life in financial services and has an intimate understanding of advice businesses and the issues facing advisers today, having built his own practice from scratch. We believe he has the energy and commitment to build on Paul’s considerable achievements and drive future growth for Synchron in NSW,” he said.

Trapnell also said that Del Grande’s time as State Manager had been successful and he was responsible for growing adviser numbers in NSW from 14 to 85 and turnover from $2 million to $11 million since 2006 while also running his own practice.
