A Perth-based financial adviser has been chosen from more than 300 nominees as the AFA Female Excellence in Advice Award Winner.
The Association presented the Award to Donna Lee Powell from DLP Life Design at its National Adviser Conference on the Gold Coast.
The Award is a joint initiative with TAL who will provide Powell with a $15,000 tailored education package and has been presented since 2011.
This year it received a record 300 nominations, up from 200 received last year and recognises the contributions of women in financial advice to their clients, the community and the profession and is assessed on contributions to financial literacy in the community and/or campaigns targeted at helping female clients take control of their financial lives.
AFA Chief Executive, Phil Kewin said Powell, who started her own consulting business in 2017 after more than 20 years in financial services, specialises in helping women who are facing life-changing events and has used her own personal adversity to educate and improve the lives of women.
TAL General Manager Retail Distribution, Niall McConville said, “We believe this Award continues to be an important influence in generating awareness around the need for more diversity within the profession itself whilst also addressing the under-representation of women seeking financial advice.”
