Risk Adviser Facebook Group Launched

Fortify Financial Advice Network Managing Director, Glen James

A NSW adviser, and AFA Adviser of the Year finalist, has created a Facebook group specifically designed for people who provide life insurance specific financial advice.

The group – My Risk Adviser – has been set up by Fortify Financial Advice Network Managing Director, Glen James who said the group was open to advisers as well as underwriters, claims assessors, technical experts and other professionals in the life insurance sector.

James added that one of the aims of the group was to assist younger advisers in learning how to build risk strategies and to capture the experience of advisers who had been provided specialist risk advice for a number of years.

The group would also cover industry and product innovation, underwriting questions, claims issues and any issues relevant to those providing life insurance products to consumers.

OnePath Fires BBQs For Mental Health

OnePath has announced a new partnership with Mr. Perfect, a grassroots men’s mental health network that encourages conversation and connection through informal BBQs.

Through the partnership, OnePath will sponsor more than 120 free BBQs across Australia for men and their families to encourage conversations and work towards making people feel safe, supported and acknowledged.

ANZ Head of Mental Health and Wellness, Life Insurance, Maria Falas said men were over-represented in the area of mental health-related income protection claims and the partnership continued OnePath’s advocacy of preventative mental health measures for customers and the community.

Synchron Launches Second App For Advisers

Synchron has released its second smart phone app for advisers within the group allowing them to register for professional development events, provide feedback on speakers and automatically collect continuing education credits for attending.

The Synchron Prof Development app will also allow advisers to see which of their peers is attending, scan attendance details, and complete polls during an event.

Synchron Chair, Michael Harrison, said the app, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play, passed the ‘Synchron smart test’ by increasing business efficiency and improving the way advisers prepared for PD days ahead of time.
