The AFA has appointed a new chair to one of its Community of Practices, naming Sydney-based adviser, Kate McCallum, as National Chair of AFA Inspire, while also releasing dates for its 2019 Connect Roadshow.
McCallum, who is the co-chief executive and founder of boutique advisory firm, Multiforte Financial Services, succeeds Di Charman in the role.
Speaking about the appointment, McCallum said, “I love the energy and atmosphere of the AFA and AFA Inspire, so I am very excited to accept the role.”
“I am grateful to the leaders who have made AFA Inspire the force it is today. I particularly wish to acknowledge and thank Di Charman for her work as National Chair over the past years and Deb Kent, founder of AFA Inspire, for her continued support and engagement,” she added.
Prior to establishing Mulitforte, McCallum held held executive positions within major financial services organisations and AFA Chief Executive, Phil Kewin said she would bring a range of experience in leading teams in changing environments.
“She is well respected in the AFA community, was awarded the AFA Female Excellence in Advice Award in 2014 and her firm was a grand finalist in this year’s AFA Practice of the Year Award,” Kewin said.
“Kate brings significant leadership experience to this role and I am confident that she will make an invaluable contribution to the AFA and to AFA Inspire.”
In related news, the AFA will draw together all of its Communities of Practice for its 2019 AFA National Connect Tour which will visit six state capitals during February.
The Tour draw from the AFA Genxt, AFA Inspire, AFA Practitioners, AFA Leaders Forum and AFA Foundation, to cover a range of topics presented by AFA award winners and guest speaker, Geoff Ramm.
“Geoff will present superior marketing techniques designed to help advisers attract more clients,” Kewin said, adding that Ramm will also present an interactive Masterclass, sharing skills that advisers can take back to their practices to deliver better customer experiences.
Ramm spoke at the 2018 AFA National Conference, where the Association also named Rebecca Pritchard as its Rising Star Award winner, and Felicity Cooper as its Excellence in Education Award winner.
Pritchard and Cooper will present sessions alongside Ramm, while Kewin and AFA General Manager, Policy and Professionalism, Phil Anderson will provide an policy issues following the release of the Royal Commission final report in early February.
