Nominations for the 2009 AFA Student of the Year Awards are due to close on 30 June.

AFA President, Jim Taggart, said the Awards (sponsored by Asteron) demonstrate the Association’s commitment to nurture the continual improvement of the advice profession by rewarding anyone furthering their knowledge through study.

The inaugural winner of the AFA Student of the Year Award in 2008 was Jo Bean from Tasmania, with state finalists including:

  • New South Wales: Anne Stevens
  • South Australia: Ioannis Papadopoulos
  • Victoria: Armando Tersigni
  • Western Australia: Antonio Franco

This year, the judging panel advise they are looking for students who demonstrate continuing education as well as application of their knowledge into their practice, their industry and their local community.

State winners will be announced at the AFA National Forums in late July, with the 2009 winner to be announced at the AFA National Conference, taking place from 4 – 6 October.

Asteron General Manager, Jordan Hawke, said Asteron is proud to partner with the AFA to sponsor the Awards. “By striving for continual improvement in their own professional development, advisers can support the advancement of their business and the entire industry.”
