{"id":11973,"date":"2011-08-22T23:08:48","date_gmt":"2011-08-22T13:08:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=11973"},"modified":"2021-04-15T10:18:18","modified_gmt":"2021-04-15T00:18:18","slug":"risk-store-forum-wrap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2011\/08\/22\/risk-store-forum-wrap\/","title":{"rendered":"risk store Forum Wrap"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/theriskstore.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The risk store<\/a> conducted its 2011 Annual Life Risk Forum\u00a0last week, delivering an abundant collection\u00a0of practical value-adds for advisers to take back and\u00a0use in their businesses.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Held this year on Hamilton Island, the Forum was based on a nautical theme of &#8216;Sailing Through Life&#8217;.\u00a0 risk store Founder, <strong>Sue Laing<\/strong>, told delegates there were a number of clear themes in this year&#8217;s Forum, where the event sessions focussed on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Taking clients on board at a young age and building life-long relationships<\/li>\n<li>Weaving together the threads involved in\u00a0navigating relationships and charting business processes that will lead to greater success for the adviser<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There was a diverse program presented to advisers around the above themes, including sessions devoted to &#8216;real life&#8217; case studies.\u00a0 Cancer\u00a0victims\u00a0shared\u00a0their life-changing experiences with\u00a0delegates, while financial Planner <strong>Kay Ledson<\/strong>\u00a0spoke to delegates about the devastating realities she experienced as the parent of a child who was critically injured in an accident, and of the journey they shared and continue to share.<\/p>\n<p>Plenary and break-out sessions presented risk-focussed and\u00a0broader topics, such as a\u00a0presentation from demographer <strong>Avril Henry<\/strong> on the different communication techniques that can be used to connect with Veterans, Baby Boomers and Generations X and Y.<\/p>\n<p>One of the key presentations in terms of relevance to the current environment was made by<strong>Sue Laing<\/strong>, who shared with advisers &#8217;30 Things You Do For Your Clients That They Don&#8217;t Know You Do.&#8217;\u00a0 The importance of this\u00a0issue relates\u00a0to the changing regulatory\u00a0environment where it will become vital in future for advisers to be able to clearly articulate the value of the services they provide their clients.<\/p>\n<h6>&#8230; even if advisers already know exactly how they give value to their clients&#8230;\u00a0it counts for little if the client does not perceive that this value has\u00a0been delivered<\/h6>\n<p>But even if advisers already know exactly how they give value to their clients, Ms Laing says it counts for little if the client does not perceive that this value has\u00a0been delivered.\u00a0 Within this context of ensuring the client clearly receives the message about how the adviser adds value, Ms Laing then outlined\u00a0the 30 different &#8216;things&#8217;
