{"id":13547,"date":"2011-12-06T21:21:24","date_gmt":"2011-12-06T11:21:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=13547"},"modified":"2021-04-15T10:20:43","modified_gmt":"2021-04-15T00:20:43","slug":"asic-releases-prosecution-data","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2011\/12\/06\/asic-releases-prosecution-data\/","title":{"rendered":"ASIC Releases Prosecution Data"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) carried out 160 prosecutions for offences under the Corporations Act during the first six months of 2011.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->The regulator has released a report detailing actions brought against individuals and companies between January and June 2011, which resulted in a number of convictions, and fines of over $419,000.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutions occurred for a range of offences, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Failure to lodge annual reports<\/li>\n<li>Managing corporations while disqualified<\/li>\n<li>Making false and misleading statements in documents lodged with ASIC<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The majority of prosecutions occurred in New South Wales where 71 individuals and companies were prosecuted. Queensland totalled 49 prosecutions, and Victoria 32.
