{"id":15099,"date":"2012-04-11T11:10:27","date_gmt":"2012-04-11T01:10:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=15099"},"modified":"2012-04-11T11:10:27","modified_gmt":"2012-04-11T01:10:27","slug":"opting-out-of-opt-in","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2012\/04\/11\/opting-out-of-opt-in\/","title":{"rendered":"Opting-out of Opt-in"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/polls\/opting-out-of-opt-in\" target=\"_self\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1228                   aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2009\/05\/vote-now.jpg\" alt=\"Vote Now!\" width=\"108\" height=\"47\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As the industry draws breath\u00a0after the passage of the Future of Financial Advice (FoFA) reform\u00a0legislation, we are\u00a0seeking your opinion about the last-minute inclusion of the class order relief that will exempt certain advisers from\u00a0complying with the contentious opt-in regulations.<\/p>\n<p>We are asking:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Do you support the class order relief exemption on opt-in for advisers who are bound by a code of conduct?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the very end of the FoFA debate, Financial Services Minister, <strong>Bill Shorten<\/strong>, introduced the opt-in class order relief exemption, following negotiations with and between\u00a0various industry interest groups, including the FPA and the Industry Super Network.<\/p>\n<p>(This initiative was also accompanied by an announcement that the Government would table legislation by 1 July 2013 which would enshrine the term \u2018financial planner\/financial adviser&#8217; in law.)<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0easing of\u00a0the proposed opt-in regime\u00a0appears to be a positive step, at least for those advisers who\u00a0will be operating under a complying code of conduct by 1 July 2013.\u00a0 However, the last-minute inclusion of this amendment drew a mixed response from the\u00a0industry &#8211; not necessarily because of its content but because of its timing and apparent lack of consultation with all but a few of the industry&#8217;s key stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>If your current membership association&#8217;s code of conduct was not eligible for the opt-in class order relief, would this motivate you to switch to one that had an eligible code of conduct, or would you perhaps take out multiple memberships?<\/p>\n<p>If you are not currently a member of an adviser association, would the opt-in class order exemption motivate you to join?<\/p>\n<p>Let us know\u00a0how important this opt-in exemption will be for you and your practice (or not!)\u00a0in\u00a0the new\u00a0FoFA reform world&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/polls\/opting-out-of-opt-in\" target=\"_self\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1228                   aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2009\/05\/vote-now.jpg\" alt=\"Vote Now!\" width=\"108\" height=\"47\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the industry draws breath\u00a0after the passage of the Future of Financial Advice (FoFA) reform\u00a0legislation, we are\u00a0seeking your opinion about the last-minute inclusion of the class order relief that will exempt certain advisers from\u00a0complying with the contentious opt-in regulations.
