{"id":29565,"date":"2015-05-05T14:33:01","date_gmt":"2015-05-05T04:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=29565"},"modified":"2015-05-05T16:46:10","modified_gmt":"2015-05-05T06:46:10","slug":"advisers-reject-other-trowbridge-initiatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2015\/05\/05\/advisers-reject-other-trowbridge-initiatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Advisers Reject Other Trowbridge Initiatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"polls-141\" class=\"wp-polls\">\n\t\t<div class=\"pollHeader\"><strong>Which of the following statements most closely reflects your position in relation to the Trowbridge policy recommendations?<\/strong><\/div><div id=\"polls-141-ans\" class=\"wp-polls-ans\"><ul class=\"wp-polls-ul\">\n\t\t<li>I generally do not support the Trowbridge policy recommendations <small>(60%)<\/small><div class=\"pollbar\" style=\"width: 60%\" title=\"I generally do not support the Trowbridge policy recommendations (60% | 201 Votes)\"><\/div><\/li>\n\t\t<li>I support all of the Trowbridge policy recommendations, other than those related to adviser remuneration <small>(31%)<\/small><div class=\"pollbar\" style=\"width: 31%\" title=\"I support all of the Trowbridge policy recommendations, other than those related to adviser remuneration (31% | 102 Votes)\"><\/div><\/li>\n\t\t<li>I support all of the Trowbridge policy recommendations <small>(9%)<\/small><div class=\"pollbar\" style=\"width: 9%\" title=\"I support all of the Trowbridge policy recommendations (9% | 30 Votes)\"><\/div><\/li>\n\t\t<\/ul><div style=\"text-align: center\"><\/div><\/div>\n\t\t<input type=\"hidden\" id=\"poll_141_nonce\" name=\"wp-polls-nonce\" value=\"3897d4a0d2\" \/>\n<\/div>\n\n<p>In an interesting result in our latest poll, six advisers in every ten have said they generally don&#8217;t support John Trowbridge&#8217;s six policy recommendations.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Given that remuneration issues have dominated the Trowbridge debate so far (with good reason), our aim in this poll has been take &#8216;take your temperature&#8217; about the balance of Mr Trowbridge&#8217;s recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>So far, 59% of our poll respondents have said they generally don&#8217;t support the package of recommendations, while 32% of advises support all recommendations other than those related to adviser remuneration, and 9% support the full package, including Mr Trowbridge&#8217;s controversial remuneration proposals.<\/p>\n<p>Adviser views seem to fall into two main categories.\u00a0 The first questions why anyone would be against &#8220;&#8230;more open APL\u2019s, banning insurance shelf space payments, the raising of consumer understanding of insurance, reducing admin burdens for advisers and implementing a life insurance code of practice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The alternative point of view seems to be well-articulated in this adviser comment, and goes some way to possibly explaining the headline number of six advisers in ten who are effectively against the entire package:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><em>&#8220;I believe most advisers would like to see more open APL\u2019s, the raising of consumer understanding of insurance and reducing admin burdens for advisers. However, the Trowbridge recommendations will not deliver these things.
