{"id":29691,"date":"2015-05-14T14:11:06","date_gmt":"2015-05-14T04:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=29691"},"modified":"2015-05-19T14:14:45","modified_gmt":"2015-05-19T04:14:45","slug":"fpa-partnership-aims-to-improve-female-financial-literacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2015\/05\/14\/fpa-partnership-aims-to-improve-female-financial-literacy\/","title":{"rendered":"FPA Partnership Aims to Improve Female Financial Literacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.5em\">A new partnership has been formed between the Financial Planning Association and <a href=\"http:\/\/10thousandgirl.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">10thousandgirl<\/a> with the aim of improving the financial literacy and economic health of women.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25053\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25053\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2014\/02\/Mark-Rantall-24.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-25053\" alt=\"Mark Rantall, FPA CEO\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2014\/02\/Mark-Rantall-24.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25053\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mark Rantall, FPA CEO<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>10thousandgirl is a not-for-profit social enterprise, established in 2009, with the goal of inspiring and educating women across Australia, with a specific focus on reaching remote and regional communities.<\/p>\n<p>The FPA will play an integral role in one of 10thousandgirl\u2019s major initiatives, the 2015-17 Regional Women\u2019s Financial Literacy project, which begins in July this year. The project includes a series of 12 webinars and 16 workshops held in regional areas, which will cover money management topics including the differences between debt and credit, the importance of life insurance, maximising superannuation and investing in shares and property.<\/p>\n<p>As part of its commitment to the program, 20 FPA members will participate in the regional workshops, sharing their financial skills and expertise with participants. The members will be designated as 10thousandgirl \u2018trusted advisers\u2019, listed in an online directory of Australia\u2019s top 100 trusted advisers for women, and actively promoted via 10thousandgirl\u2019s network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnderstanding financial concepts and the principles of investing is a really important first step, but the reality is that the project will deliver so much more,\u201d said FPA CEO, <strong>Mark Rantall<\/strong>. \u201cIt gives women the tools they need to create a life plan and achieve the financial future they want by taking charge of their finances now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is something the FPA advocates for all Australians, men and women,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>10thousandgirl CEO, <strong>Zoe Lamont<\/strong>, said: \u201cOur goal is to provide women with the tools to become financially empowered; be debt free, actively investing, have sufficient insurance and superannuation.
