{"id":32903,"date":"2016-04-05T21:56:27","date_gmt":"2016-04-05T10:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=32903"},"modified":"2016-04-06T06:16:19","modified_gmt":"2016-04-05T19:16:19","slug":"32903","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2016\/04\/05\/32903\/","title":{"rendered":"Former AFA President to Chair Education Provider"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former president of the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA), <strong>Dr Jim Taggart<\/strong>, OAM, has been appointed as the first chair of Mentor Education and has thrown his support behind the group\u2019s push for advisers to study fully fledged planning courses.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_32923\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32923\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2016\/04\/Jim-Taggart-cropped.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-32923\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-32923\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2016\/04\/Jim-Taggart-cropped.jpg\" alt=\"Jim Taggart\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-32923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jim Taggart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Taggart, who was AFA President from late 2008 to late 2010, is already involved in education as an Adjunct Professor at both Western Sydney and Notre Dame Universities providing advice on undergraduate and post graduate courses and on research methods in business, innovation and entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n<p>Taggart said he was pleased to chair the group which was growing through the development and delivery of innovative programs which he described as the \u201c\u2026the next generation of quality courses and degrees\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also applaud Mentor Education for so insightfully entering the debate on educational qualifications for financial advisers.
