{"id":38985,"date":"2017-11-10T21:30:37","date_gmt":"2017-11-10T10:30:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=38985"},"modified":"2017-11-21T17:59:56","modified_gmt":"2017-11-21T06:59:56","slug":"former-afa-ceo-named-to-asic-peer-review-panel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2017\/11\/10\/former-afa-ceo-named-to-asic-peer-review-panel\/","title":{"rendered":"Former AFA CEO Named to ASIC Peer Review Panel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former AFA Chief Executive, <strong>Brad Fox<\/strong> has been named as one of initial members of ASIC\u2019s newly formed peer review body, the Financial Services and Credit Panel (FSCP).<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_36003\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36003\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2017\/02\/Brad-Fox-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36003\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2017\/02\/Brad-Fox-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-36003\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Former AFA CEO, Brad Fox<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Fox was named with 17 other financial services and consumer credit industry professionals after ASIC called for <a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2017\/08\/15\/news-in-brief-215\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expressions of interest in joining the panel<\/a> earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>The members of the FSCP will act as a pool of industry participants that ASIC can draw upon when forming individual sitting panels to hear different matter in the financial services and consumer credit sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Each sitting panel will have two FSCP members and an ASIC staff member and will hold administrative hearings which include the ability to make banning orders against individuals for misconduct.<\/p>\n<p>ASIC Chair, <strong>Greg Medcraft<\/strong> said the panels would enhance the impact of ASIC&#8217;s administrative decisions as they drew on the range of knowledge and experience of professionals in the financial services and credit industry.<\/p>\n<p>The panel was first proposed in April 2017 (see:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2017\/04\/11\/asic-proposes-peer-review-panel-for-banning-actions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ASIC Proposes Peer Review Panel For Banning Advisers<\/a>)\u00a0and ASIC has stated that it received supportive responses from industry bodies, banks, consumer groups and other interested parties regarding the establishment of the panel.<\/p>\n<p>Fox is the second senior figure tied to the AFA to be chosen for a role with a Government body after former AFA President, <strong>Deb Kent<\/strong> was named to the board of the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority in April 2017 (see:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2017\/04\/10\/odwyer-appoints-professional-standards-body-directors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Former AFA President Named to Professional Standards Body<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The full panel is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Annette Spencer<\/li>\n<li>Brad Fox*<\/li>\n<li>Brian Salter<\/li>\n<li>Bruce Debenham<\/li>\n<li>Calvert Duffy<\/li>\n<li>Cherie Feher<\/li>\n<li>Christine McArthur<\/li>\n<li>Dacian Moses*<\/li>\n<li>Don Crellin<\/li>\n<li>Fiona Rowland<\/li>\n<li>Gabrielle Bouffler<\/li>\n<li>Gaye Simpson<\/li>\n<li>Gayle Cilfone<\/li>\n<li>Jennifer Diggle*<\/li>\n<li>Johanna Turner<\/li>\n<li>Naomi Layton<\/li>\n<li>Peter Wade<\/li>\n<li>Stephen Cavanagh<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* &#8211;
