TAL will offer free skin cancer checks and referrals to qualified professionals under a new initiative that will visit key beach and city locations around Australia over the summer season.<\/p>\n

The initiative, called TAL SpotChecker, will consist of a series of pop-up clinics offering the general public free skin checks from skin cancer doctors and information on preventing skin cancer.<\/p>\n

TAL General Manager, Health Services, Dr Sally Phillips<\/strong> said the initiative was part of TAL\u2019s wider focus on the health of its policy holders and the Australia public and was designed to raise awareness around preventing skin cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cSkin cancer is one of Australia\u2019s most common cancers, with almost 14,000 people affected every year, but it is also one of the most easily detectable and preventable. Through TAL SpotChecker, we\u2019re aiming to reduce the impact of skin cancer through increased awareness and action around skin checks,\u201d Phillips said.<\/p>\n

The SpotChecker initiative will begin at NSW\u2019s Bondi Beach on 2-3 December before heading to Surfer\u2019s Paradise on the Gold Coast on the 16-17 December 2017, and then appearing in Federation Square in Melbourne on 27-28 January 2018, followed by Henley Beach in Adelaide on 10-11 February 2018 and concluding at City Beach in Perth on 24-25 February 2018.<\/p>\n

TAL is also in discussions with the Royal Flying Doctor Service to take the SpotChecker across Australia with the aim of checking 27,000 people in the next 12 months.<\/p>\n
