{"id":41682,"date":"2018-07-31T20:20:23","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T10:20:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=41682"},"modified":"2025-09-02T11:33:56","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T01:33:56","slug":"lack-of-bandwidth-driving-advisers-to-claims-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2018\/07\/31\/lack-of-bandwidth-driving-advisers-to-claims-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Lack of Time Driving Advisers to Claims Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Advisers are opting to use claims advocacy services to free up their own time to interact with clients and to work on their businesses, according to the head of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afrmclaimsadvocacy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AFRM Claims Advocacy<\/a> (ACA), <strong>Bruno Muraca<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_39110\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-39110\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2017\/11\/Bruno-Muraca.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-39110\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2017\/11\/Bruno-Muraca.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-39110\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">ACA Chief Executive, Bruno Muraca<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He said since its launch ACA had signed up around 100 advisers across 40 practices to its claims advocacy services where around half wrote risk business and were capable of handling claims but still chose to outsource the task to ACA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe main themes we are seeing among advisers who use ACA is they have a limited capacity to handle claims alongside their other work and are being redirected from working with current clients and developing new clients,\u201d Muraca said.<\/p>\n<p>He said some advisers did admit they were less experienced in handling claims but ACA was not seeing a split between risk only advisers and those who also worked in the area of wealth management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe pressure on all sorts of advisers to handle the work involved in the claims process, and find the bandwidth to complete that task, is similar across the board,\u201d he said, adding a basic claim can take at least ten hours to complete and most practices will have an average of five claims per year.<\/p>\n<h6>\u201cThe pressure on all sorts of advisers to handle the work involved in the claims process&#8230;is similar across the board&#8221;<\/h6>\n<p>Muraca said the time liaising between medical practitioners, insurers, advisers and clients can quickly add up and the use of a claims advocacy service allows advisers to focus on enriching their client relationships by providing emotional support during a difficult time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreviously, they have not been able to have as much of an influence on their clients\u2019 return to wellness as they can now, with ACA\u2019s support.
