{"id":42128,"date":"2018-09-03T12:00:49","date_gmt":"2018-09-03T02:00:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=42128"},"modified":"2018-09-05T01:29:20","modified_gmt":"2018-09-04T15:29:20","slug":"tal-extends-spinal-health-education-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2018\/09\/03\/tal-extends-spinal-health-education-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"TAL Extends Spinal Health Education Initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TAL has extended its spinal health underwriting education initiative to focus on a wider range of conditions associated with\u00a0musculoskeletal conditions.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The extended initiative covers issues related to underwriting the spine following neck pain, and builds on earlier tools which focused on\u00a0underwriting the spine following lower back pain (see:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2018\/06\/25\/tal-launches-spinal-health-education-initiative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TAL Launches Spinal Health Education Initiative<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The tools will help advisers and their clients to understand why underwriting exclusions for the spine are applied following neck pain and when clients may be eligible for an underwriting review.<\/p>\n<p>TAL Musculoskeletal Manager, <strong>Gavin<\/strong> <b>Law<\/b>, said\u00a0underwriting spinal health issues was a challenge where customers had a history of neck pain because it could be caused by a number of disorders and involve any of the tissues in and around the neck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo help support our adviser partners to have well-informed client conversations about neck pain and spinal exclusions, we developed a suite of materials that explain the risk factors associated with neck pain, TAL&#8217;s underwriting process, and ways to help customers improve their health and wellbeing.
