{"id":42375,"date":"2018-09-26T15:40:51","date_gmt":"2018-09-26T05:40:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=42375"},"modified":"2025-09-02T11:33:55","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T01:33:55","slug":"royal-commission-questions-validity-of-life-insurance-commission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2018\/09\/26\/royal-commission-questions-validity-of-life-insurance-commission\/","title":{"rendered":"Royal Commission Questions Ongoing Use of Life Insurance Commissions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Banking Royal Commission has questioned why life insurance commissions should remain as a carve-out to the conflicted remuneration provisions of the Corporations Act and why they should not continue to be reduced to zero.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Commission posed the questions as a \u2018policy related issue\u2019 arising from the insurance hearings which concluded last week, and included them in <a href=\"https:\/\/financialservices.royalcommission.gov.au\/public-hearings\/Documents\/Round-6-closing-submissions\/policy-questions-arising-from-module-6.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a document released through its website<\/a>, which is open for comment until 25 October.<\/p>\n<p>Under a section titled \u2018Sales\u2019, the documents stated, \u201cShould monetary benefits given in relation to life risk insurance products remain exempt from the ban on conflicted remuneration in Division 4 of Part 7.7A of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth)?\u201d.
