Robertson Wins 2018 AFA Adviser of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The AFA has closed its National Adviser Conference by naming Queensland adviser\u00a0<strong>Hugh Robertson<\/strong> of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/centaurfinancial.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Centaur Financial Services<\/a> as the 2018 AFA Adviser of the Year.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_42598\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42598\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2018\/10\/Hugh-RobertsonA.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42598\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2018\/10\/Hugh-RobertsonA.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-42598\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">AFA\/Zurich 2018 Adviser of Year, Hugh Robertson<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Robertson, who is based on the Gold Coast, received his Award at the conference\u2019s gala dinner and was chosen for the award ahead of finalists\u00a0<strong>Tom Dawe<\/strong> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.capitalfocused.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Capital Focused<\/a> and <strong>Elliot Watson<\/strong> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elliotwatson.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elliot Watson Financial Planning<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The AFA Adviser of the Year Award is now in its sixteenth year and is a joint initiative between the AFA and Zurich, which is also a supporter of the AFA Practice of the Year Award (see: <a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2018\/10\/12\/twd-australia-named-as-2018-practice-of-the-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TWD Australia Named as 2018 Practice of the Year<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Nominees for the Adviser of the Year Award are submitted to a rigorous assessment process and, among a range of factors, are judged for the contribution they make to improving the financial literacy of their clients and their community.<\/p>\n<p>Robertson said he entered the Award to go through the process but did not expect to win but believed it was important to test his advice during a time of pressure for the advice sector.<\/p>\n<p>Previous winners of the AFA Adviser of the Year Award, sponsored by Zurich since its inception in 2003, are:<\/p>\n<p>2017 \u2013
