{"id":42653,"date":"2018-10-12T16:23:07","date_gmt":"2018-10-12T06:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=42653"},"modified":"2018-10-16T21:18:00","modified_gmt":"2018-10-16T11:18:00","slug":"fpa-names-new-board-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2018\/10\/12\/fpa-names-new-board-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"FPA Names New Board Chair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The FPA Board has announced that <strong>Marisa Broome<\/strong> will take over the role of Chair from <strong>Neil Kendall<\/strong> when his term concludes towards the end of November.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_42655\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-42655\" style=\"width: 151px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2018\/10\/005776_109854_180_180_True.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-42655\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2018\/10\/005776_109854_180_180_True.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-42655\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">New FPA Board Chair, Marisa Broome<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Broome, who is a Sydney-based adviser running her own practice since 1997, has been an FPA Board member since 2015,\u00a0and is the Chair of the Policy and Regulations Committee and the FASEA Working Group, and is a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the FPA Board.<\/p>\n<p>Kendall will step down on 21 November ending his eight-year tenure on the Board, including four years as Chair and said Broome\u2019s experience in running her own practice for more than 20 years would equip her to understand the challenges facing the advice profession.<\/p>\n<p>The Board also announced that Director Philip Pledge will step down from his role on 31 December 2018 after 10 years while Paul Ruiz would join from 1 January 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The Association also announced the finalists for all six categories of the 2018 FPA Awards, which will be presented at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fpacongress.com.au.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FPA Professionals Congress<\/a> in Sydney in November, along with the winner of the bi-annual Gwen Fletcher Memorial Award.<\/p>\n<p>The Awards recognise the achievements of financial planners, paraplanners, students and practices who have made a positive difference in the lives of clients, and delivered the highest professional and ethical standards outlined in the FPA Code of Professional Practice.<\/p>\n<p>The finalists for each Award are:<\/p>\n<p><strong>FPA CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER\u00ae Professional of the Year Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Michael Carmody<\/strong> CFP \u2013 Viva Wealth (WA)<\/li>\n<li><strong>James McFall<\/strong> CFP \u2013 Yield Financial Planning (VIC)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chris Smith<\/strong> CFP \u2013 VISIS Private Wealth (QLD)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>FPA Financial Planner AFP\u00ae of the Year Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Felicity Cooper<\/strong> AFP \u2013 Cooper Wealth Management (QLD)<\/li>\n<li><strong>James O\u2019Reilly<\/strong> AFP \u2013 Northeast Wealth (VIC)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sandra Slattery<\/strong> AFP \u2013 Commonwealth Financial Planning (NSW)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>FPA Paraplanner of the Year Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pierce Hanlen<\/strong> \u2013 Hewison and Associates (VIC)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Kearsten James<\/strong> CFP \u2013 Sterling Private Wealth (QLD)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emma Zwaan<\/strong> AFP \u2013 Capital Partners (WA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Community Service award supported by Future2 Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Amanda Cassar<\/strong> AFP\u2013 Wealth Planning Partners (QLD)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wayne Fenton<\/strong> AFP &#8211;
