{"id":43150,"date":"2018-12-04T09:00:06","date_gmt":"2018-12-03T23:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=43150"},"modified":"2018-12-05T06:17:51","modified_gmt":"2018-12-04T20:17:51","slug":"mlc-life-names-new-chief-underwriter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2018\/12\/04\/mlc-life-names-new-chief-underwriter\/","title":{"rendered":"MLC Life Names New Chief Underwriter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MLC Life has named a new Chief Underwriter as part of a round of appointments aimed at expanding the operational capability of the life insurer.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41433\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41433\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2018\/07\/Head-of-underwriting-Mick-Jones.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-41433\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2018\/07\/Head-of-underwriting-Mick-Jones.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-41433\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MLC Life Chief Underwriter, Mick Jones<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The life insurer promoted former Head of Underwriting, Mick Jones, into the role after the former Chief Underwriter Debbie Kennedy was appointed into a new role of General Manager, Business Architecture and Change.<\/p>\n<p>Jones joined MLC Life in August of this year from HSBC Hong Kong, where he was\u00a0Chief Underwriter (see:\u00a0MLC Life Appoints New Head of Underwriting) and will be succeeded in his former role by\u00a0Gary Oberg who moves across from his role as Head of Underwriting Strategy and Governance.<\/p>\n<p>The internal moves are part of a series of wider shifts in which\u00a0Head of Digital,\u00a0<strong>Tim Roso\u00a0<\/strong>has been appointed as General Manager Digital,\u00a0Innovation and Ventures and\u00a0<strong>Michael Tobin<\/strong>, Chief of Staff to Chief Executive, <strong>David Hackett<\/strong>, has been named as General Manager, Transformation and Portfolio Management.<\/p>\n<p>MLC Life also announced the appointment of a new\u00a0Chief Information Officer,\u00a0<strong>Nish Chandran,\u00a0<\/strong>who will oversee the technology development that will transition the insurer from NAB&#8217;s systems onto new, stand-alone infrastructure. Chandran joins from credit and payment processing firm, First Data where he holds the role of\u00a0Chief Information Officer and Vice President \u2013 Information Technology.<\/p>\n<p>Also joining MLC Life is\u00a0<strong>Darren Klein<\/strong>\u00a0who will take on the role of General Manager of Data and Analytics and oversee the insurer&#8217;s\u00a0strategy for data governance, analytics and data insights, and establishing a stronger data-driven culture for customers.
