Code Monitoring Australia (CMA) &#8211; which has submitted a proposal to ASIC<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> to advance a profession-wide solution to the monitoring of the FASEA Code of Ethics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_45086\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-45086\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2019\/06\/Dante-De-Gori_FPA-CEO-cropped.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-45086\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2019\/06\/Dante-De-Gori_FPA-CEO-cropped.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-45086\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FPA CEO, Dante De Gori<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/fpa.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FPA<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afa.asn.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AFA<\/a> and a consortium of four other professional associations filed a formal submission with ASIC on behalf of CMA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The submission provides an actionable solution to the 15 November 2019 deadline when all financial planners\/advisers are required to subscribe to an approved code monitoring body.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">CMA was established in late 2018 as an independent body to monitor and enforce compliance with the FASEA Code of Ethics that comes into effect from 1 January 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">FPA CEO,\u00a0<strong>Dante De Gori<\/strong><\/span><span class=\"s1\">, says they have provided what they believe is a detailed and well-considered solution to ASIC. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe decision is now with them, but given how tight the timeline is until November we\u2019re preparing as much as we can in readiness for a green light, just in case,\u201d De Gori said, confirming CMA has also commenced advertising roles for the Compliance Scheme Governing Body via Seek.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">CMA is a wholly owned subsidiary of the FPA, the AFA and the four other professional associations currently participating in CMA, which include: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bfp.asn.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boutique Financial Planning Principals&#8217; Group<\/a> (BFP)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.finsia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Financial Services Institute of Australasia<\/a> (FINSIA)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.smsfassociation.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Self Managed Super Fund Association<\/a> (SMSF Association)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stockbrokers.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stockbrokers and Financial Advisers Association<\/a> (SAFAA)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Six industry associations have joined forces to create a proposed joint code monitoring body &#8211;
