{"id":47180,"date":"2019-11-15T15:07:25","date_gmt":"2019-11-15T04:07:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=47180"},"modified":"2019-11-19T09:19:11","modified_gmt":"2019-11-18T22:19:11","slug":"asic-on-relief-from-compliance-scheme-obligations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2019\/11\/15\/asic-on-relief-from-compliance-scheme-obligations\/","title":{"rendered":"ASIC Confirms Relief From Compliance Scheme Obligations in Effect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">ASIC has taken action to provide certainty to Australian financial services licensees that they will not be in breach of the law because their financial advisers were not able to register with an ASIC-approved compliance scheme by 1 January 2020, as originally required.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The regulator confirmed it has granted a three-year exemption to all AFS licensees from the obligation in the Corporations Act 2001 to ensure that their financial advisers are covered by a compliance scheme and from the associated notification obligations. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">ASIC announced in October that it would be taking steps to provide this relief to AFS licensees.
