The AFA has announced that it is working with the Financial Planning Association, in a coordinated and collaborative industry response, to establish a Pro Bono Financial Advice programme where members of each association can volunteer their time to help Australians impacted by the bushfires to rebuild financially.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect that once the fires are extinguished, for many weeks, months and even years after, those affected will face significant financial pressures requiring the support and expertise of a financial adviser. This is where you can make a critical difference and support everyday Australians who need help,\u201d wrote AFA’s Chief Executive Officer, Philip Kewin, <\/strong>in a message to members.<\/p>\n

Members wishing to register their interest in taking part in the Pro Bono Financial Advice programme can email the association at info@afa.asn.au<\/span><\/a> with their name and contact details.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also ask that you check-in with your licensee to obtain their approval for you to provide pro-bono financial advice through this programme \u2013 we have let our AFA licensee partners know about this important initiative,\u201d says Kewin.<\/p>\n

He notes that the process for applying to receive pro bono support from advisers is currently being finalised and will be announced in the coming weeks. Further details around the organisation of the programme and next steps will be available shortly to those who register, he says.<\/p>\n
