{"id":50512,"date":"2020-06-16T14:03:51","date_gmt":"2020-06-16T04:03:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=50512"},"modified":"2020-06-23T12:54:25","modified_gmt":"2020-06-23T02:54:25","slug":"fasea-exam-extension-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2020\/06\/16\/fasea-exam-extension-update\/","title":{"rendered":"FASEA Exam, Education Extensions Down to the Wire"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>*** <em>9.35am Wednesday, 17 June: The legislation containing the FASEA exam and education extensions has finally passed both Houses as the Senate did not further insist on its amendments to which the House of Representatives disagreed<\/em>.***<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Government has one final chance this week to have its legislation containing the FASEA exam and education extensions pass the Senate without a key but unrelated amendment attaching to it.<\/p>\n<p>The amendment, proposed by <em>Centre Alliance Party<\/em> Senator, <strong>Rex Patrick<\/strong>, relates to the removal of a grandfathering arrangement that has exempted some large proprietary companies from providing annual financial statements to ASIC (see also: <a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2020\/06\/15\/fasea-extensions-stalemate-optimism-remains\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FASEA Extensions Stalemate&#8230;<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>Twice already during this current Parliamentary sitting, the Government has sought agreement from the Senate &#8211; in its committee stage &#8211; not to insist that Senator Patrick&#8217;s amendment remains attached to the Treasury Laws Amendment (2019 Measures No. 3) Bill.
