{"id":55742,"date":"2021-05-04T16:42:26","date_gmt":"2021-05-04T06:42:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=55742"},"modified":"2024-10-30T08:44:49","modified_gmt":"2024-10-29T22:44:49","slug":"vaccine-rumours-squashed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2021\/05\/04\/vaccine-rumours-squashed\/","title":{"rendered":"Vaccine Rumours Squashed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Financial Services Council has reassured Australians that taking a Covid-19 vaccine will not invalidate their life insurance policies despite what it says are false rumours suggesting otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>FSC CEO, <strong>Sally Loane<\/strong>, said the rumours, which are understood to have been circulating on social media, incorrectly suggest the Coronavirus vaccine is an experimental medical treatment and therefore having the vaccine is a self-inflicted injury which could void life insurance policies.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_55743\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-55743\" style=\"width: 152px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2021\/05\/Sally-Loane-v2-e1620110299644.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-55743 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2021\/05\/Sally-Loane-v2-e1620110299644.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"152\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-55743\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FSC CEO, Sally Loane &#8230;this scare mongering is wrong and it needs to stop immediately<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cTo be clear &#8211; the COVID-19 vaccine is not experimental treatment. Receiving approved treatment from a qualified medical professional at an approved medical facility is not a self-inflicted injury,\u201d said Loane, who continued:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This scare mongering is wrong&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOne of the main reasons why people hold life insurance policies is to provide peace of mind for themselves and their families.
