AFA CEO, Helen Morgan-Banda<\/strong>, has resigned her position and will return to New Zealand.<\/p>\n

News of Morgan-Banda’s departure was released to AFA members by the association’s National President, Sam Perera<\/strong>, who also announced that the AFA Board has asked its GM Policy and Professionalism, Phil Anderson<\/strong>, to take on the added responsibilities of CEO.<\/p>\n

Perera advises that <\/span>Morgan-Banda’s resignation takes immediate effect, as does Anderson’s elevation, which Perera has confirmed is a permanent appointment.<\/span><\/p>\n

In his message to members, Perera referred to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding access to New Zealand and between states in Australia because of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly the Omicron variant, as the reason Morgan-Banda has decided to travel to Melbourne to be close to family located there, before returning to her family in New Zealand, when border restrictions allow.<\/p>\n

Morgan Banda took on the role of AFA CEO at the beginning of August 2021 (see: AFA Announces New CEO<\/a>), and was described at the time as an accomplished CEO of member associations, having joined the AFA from her role as CEO of the Law Society of New Zealand. and previously as CEO of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.<\/p>\n

Perera notes this Anderson acted as the association’s CEO for nearly six months in 2021, following the departure of former CEO, Phil Kewin<\/strong>, and that he is sure Anderson will settle back into this position quickly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
