{"id":60379,"date":"2022-04-12T15:47:37","date_gmt":"2022-04-12T04:47:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=60379"},"modified":"2024-10-30T08:43:46","modified_gmt":"2024-10-29T22:43:46","slug":"nearly-900-advisers-qualify-for-exam-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2022\/04\/12\/nearly-900-advisers-qualify-for-exam-extension\/","title":{"rendered":"Nearly 900 Advisers Qualify for Exam Extension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly 900 financial advisers have qualified for the 30 September 2022 extension to pass the financial adviser exam.<\/p>\n<p>This statistic was highlighted by the AFA in its latest policy update for members which points to questions asked of ASIC by Queensland Nationals <strong>Senator Susan McDonald<\/strong> following the February 2022 Senate Estimates hearing.<\/p>\n<p>ASIC&#8217;s answers included the fact that 882 financial advisers have qualified for the exam extension, which is for those advisers who had attempted the exam at least twice before the end of 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The AFA also notes that amongst the answers to Senator McDonald\u2019s questions, ASIC provided a split of advisers by age demographic as of 24 February 2022, \u201c\u2026which shows a good spread of ages, inclusive of nearly 1,000 advisers over the age of 65.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The breakdown of advisers&#8217; ages shows that the largest cohort, 8,328 or 48 percent, are in the 40-to-54 year age group with the next biggest group being those under 40, totalling 4,980 or 28 percent of advisers.<\/p>\n<p>The AFA update included the following table:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2022\/04\/age-demogrphic-e1649741542204.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-60380\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2022\/04\/age-demogrphic-e1649741542204.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2022\/04\/age-demogrphic-e1649741542204.png 432w, https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2022\/04\/age-demogrphic-e1649741542204-300x188.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/a>\u201cASIC has also stated they are currently undertaking a review of the Financial Adviser Register to ensure that all advisers who had not passed the exam by 31 December 2021 and did not qualify for the extension until 30 September 2022, have been updated to reflect a \u201cceased\u201d status,&#8221; says AFA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cASIC has suggested that this review might lead to a further reduction in adviser numbers on the FAR,\u201d it notes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nearly 900 financial advisers have qualified for the 30 September 2022 extension to pass the financial adviser exam.
