{"id":65687,"date":"2023-05-09T13:46:33","date_gmt":"2023-05-09T02:46:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=65687"},"modified":"2023-05-09T13:46:33","modified_gmt":"2023-05-09T02:46:33","slug":"2023-united-association-roadshow-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2023\/05\/09\/2023-united-association-roadshow-underway\/","title":{"rendered":"2023 United Association Roadshow Underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United Association Roadshow 2023 is underway, having kicked off in Hobart last week, before visiting other capital and regional cities across Australia during May and June.<\/p>\n<p>The event is co-ordinated by the newly-merged Financial Advice Association Australia and is the first major event run by the new united professional association.<\/p>\n<p>The FAAA says the official theme for the Roadshow is <em>Policy, Practice, People \u2013 A united pathway for members<\/em>, with attendees earning up to five CPD hours for the full day event.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_58852\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-58852\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2021\/12\/Sarah-Abood-v2-e1639004204902.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-58852\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2021\/12\/Sarah-Abood-v2-e1639004204902.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"181\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-58852\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sarah Abood &#8230;the roadshow will be an opportunity for members to enjoy a full day of relevant and quality CPD content&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It notes that the United Roadshow program was developed with feedback from both FPA and AFA members with a particularly strong focus on regulation, ethics and client care &#8220;&#8230;including many award-winning adviser presenters sharing best practice, and plenty of opportunities for networking.&#8221; (Also see: <a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2023\/03\/23\/national-roadshows-for-advisers-announced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Roadshows for Advisers Announced<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The roadshow will travel to another nine cities across Australia:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Newcastle on 11 May<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Sydney on 15 May<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Brisbane on 16 May<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Melbourne on 18 May<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Bendigo on 19 May<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Adelaide on 23 May<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Perth on 25 May<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Canberra on 31 May<\/li>\n<li>Townsville on 2 June<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The association says the roadshow will be an opportunity to hear from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FAAA Chair <strong>David Sharpe<\/strong> and CEO <strong>Sarah Abood,<\/strong> including a topical Policy and Advocacy Update<\/li>\n<li>AFCA Lead Ombudsman <strong>Shail Singh<\/strong> \/ Ombudsman <strong>Ian Donald<\/strong> as part of a panel discussion with <strong>Conrad Travers<\/strong>, Principal Consultant, Tangelo Advice Consulting around putting policy into practice to ensure compliance, led by <strong>Phil Anderson<\/strong>, CEO AFA and GM Transformation, Policy &amp; Advocacy FAAA<\/li>\n<li>Deloitte Legal Practitioner Partner <strong>James Alsop<\/strong> \/ Deloitte Tax Controversy Partner <strong>Sharon Murray<\/strong>, as well as Tangelo, discussing the current status of tax deductibility of financial advice fees, and progress on the review of the tax determination<\/li>\n<li>FPA and AFA award-winning practitioners sharing best practice ideas to deliver enhanced client outcomes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Attendees will also dissect Standard 12, presented by member <strong>Michael Miller<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Keynote speaker <strong>Mark &#8216;Squiz&#8217; Squirrell OAM<\/strong> has served with the Australian Special Forces as well as working across the globe as an International Aid Worker, including escorting food convoys through the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n<p>Abood says Squirrell, has a story-telling ability &#8220;&#8230;that will capture the audience and links into the themes of leadership, resilience, communication, trust and problem solving under pressure, providing practical tips for financial planners and advisers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She adds\u00a0 that the roadshow will be an opportunity for members &#8220;&#8230;to enjoy a full day of relevant and quality CPD content as well as a chance to network with fellow practitioners and colleagues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fpa.com.au\/2023-fpa-afa-united-association-roadshow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here<\/a> for more information.
