That\u2019s the view of MDRT guest speaker and independent financial adviser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fpconcepts.co.uk\/meet-the-team\/jerry-wellington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Jerry Wellington<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>UK-based Wellington told an audience of finance specialists at this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/annualmeeting.mdrt.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MDRT conference<\/a> in Nashville that advisers are by their nature helpful people who want to do the best for their clients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, I sometimes wonder whether we try too hard, whether we are doing too much,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_66665\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-66665\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2023\/07\/Jerry-Wellington-UK-MDRT.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-66665\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2023\/07\/Jerry-Wellington-UK-MDRT.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-66665\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jerry Wellington of Financial Planning Concepts &#8230;we need to do the right things to give our clients success<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are adding services for our clients, but we are not removing stuff at the bottom. We are just adding more, and more, and more. If we do too much we run the risk of burn out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wellington, who has been a member of MDRT since 2006 and is a global thought leader, said while it\u2019s fine to check-in with clients to make sure you are doing enough for them \u201c\u2026don\u2019t do things that they don\u2019t value. It won\u2019t add anything to the relationship\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to do the right things to give our clients success,\u201d he said. \u201cGiving good service does not mean success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He then asked members of the audience if they are aiming to please, or aiming to succeed?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a big difference,\u201d he said. \u201cThe bottom line is, how do the niceties we provide produce income? That\u2019s the bottom line. It is easy to lose sight of what we do for our clients.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll clients want is a better life. They don\u2019t want a plan, or a life insurer, they don\u2019t want a pension.
