{"id":72211,"date":"2024-07-02T11:26:04","date_gmt":"2024-07-02T01:26:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=72211"},"modified":"2024-07-02T23:39:57","modified_gmt":"2024-07-02T13:39:57","slug":"substantial-grant-to-first-nations-foundation-metlife","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2024\/07\/02\/substantial-grant-to-first-nations-foundation-metlife\/","title":{"rendered":"Substantial Grant to First Nations Foundation &#8211; MetLife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/firstnationsfoundation.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">First Nations Foundation<\/a> has received $155,000 from MetLife Foundation to continue strengthening the financial knowledge of First Nations women.<\/p>\n<p>The insurer together with MetLife Foundation have extended their support by donating funds to FNF&#8217;s Indigenous women&#8217;s financial literacy initiative, <em>Rich Blak Women<\/em>, and its new program, <em>Resilient and Ready<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The new program, designed to cater to the unique needs of Indigenous women, focuses exclusively on career development and supporting employment journeys.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_72212\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-72212\" style=\"width: 151px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2024\/07\/Phil-Usher-e1719880566797.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-72212\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2024\/07\/Phil-Usher-e1719880566797.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"151\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-72212\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Phil Usher<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The two organisations say the funding received from MetLife will enable approximately 500 First Nations women to participate in the <em>Resilient and Ready<\/em> program, which is offered across a range of online workshops, self-paced financial well-being modules and in-person events.<\/p>\n<p>They note the program covers essential financial foundations such as budgeting, savings and debt management, while also providing support in setting personal and career goals.<\/p>\n<p>FNF chief executive <strong>Phil Usher<\/strong> says it&#8217;s a great sign from MetLife to demonstrate its commitment to the financial well-being of First Nations women.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At FNF, we&#8217;re keen to team up with those who share our passion and drive to financially empower First Nations communities&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;everything we do at the foundation follows a culture-first approach&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_50803\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-50803\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2020\/07\/richard-nunn.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-50803\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2020\/07\/richard-nunn.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-50803\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Richard Nunn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Usher says a significant part of the training involves overcoming limiting beliefs and establishing healthy boundaries when it comes to money.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything we do at the foundation follows a culture-first approach, which is the essence of why our programs are successful,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n<p>MetLife Australia chief executive <strong>Richard Nunn<\/strong> reaffirmed the insurer&#8217;s commitment to supporting FNF&#8217;s efforts to enhance the financial literacy of First Nations women.<\/p>\n<p>Nunn says the company looks forward to working with FNF\u00a0 &#8220;&#8230;and continuing our journey of cultural learning to deliver better experiences for our First Nations customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A recent report, by the University of Melbourne&#8217;s Faculty of Business and Economics, found that Indigenous-owned businesses in Australia generated $16.1 billion in revenue and provided jobs for 116,795 employees over the fiscal year 2021 to 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>First Nations Foundation has received $155,000 from MetLife Foundation to continue strengthening the financial knowledge of First Nations women.
