Pacific Life Re<\/a> has announced a number of new appointments within its protection business, including the current managing director of the Australian business being promoted to a senior Asia Pacific role.<\/p>\n

Tyson Johnston<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The life and health reinsurer says that Tyson Johnston<\/strong>, the current managing director of the Australian business and head of global protection strategy, has been elevated to the role of managing director, protection, Asia Pacific & global strategy.<\/p>\n

He will now be guiding the company’s growth in the Asia Pacific region, building on the success seen in Australia. In this role, he will continue to report to Andrew Gill<\/strong>, the executive vice president of global protection for Pacific Life Re.<\/p>\n

Martyn Gilling<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Meanwhile, Martyn Gilling<\/strong>, the current head of client solutions, Australia will assume many of Johnston\u2019s previous responsibilities in a new role as general manager, protection, Australia.<\/p>\n

The company says Gilling has over 25 years of experience in reinsurance markets in Australia and overseas \u201c\u2026and will bring extensive experience to support the ever-changing needs of insurers in the Australian market.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Australian protection business, now led by Gilling, and the Asian protection business, which continues to be led by Vasan Errakiah<\/strong>, will both report to Johnston.<\/p>\n

Matthew Larkin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Matthew Larkin<\/strong> steps into the role of head of client solutions, Australia where he will spearhead the company\u2019s protection market strategy and sales initiatives.<\/p>\n

Gill says that over the last seven years, Johnston has \u201c\u2026demonstrated excellent strategic leadership and we\u2019re confident he will drive our growth in the Asia Pacific region.\u201d<\/p>\n
