{"id":73176,"date":"2024-09-05T09:22:27","date_gmt":"2024-09-04T23:22:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=73176"},"modified":"2024-09-10T12:07:55","modified_gmt":"2024-09-10T02:07:55","slug":"zurich-appoints-chief-risk-officer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2024\/09\/05\/zurich-appoints-chief-risk-officer\/","title":{"rendered":"Zurich Appoints Chief Risk Officer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zurich Financial Services Australia has appointed <strong>David Wainwright<\/strong> as Chief Risk Officer for Australia and New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>The insurer says Wainwright has close to 25 years\u2019 experience in financial services and joins from Zurich in the United Kingdom where he is currently Chief Risk Officer for its Life business.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_73179\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-73179\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2024\/09\/david-wainwright-2-e1725491256244.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-73179\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2024\/09\/david-wainwright-2-e1725491256244.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-73179\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">David Wainwright<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Prior to this, he held various risk management and leadership roles at Zurich UK, Nomura Securities, Halifax Bank of Scotland and Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Global Banking and Markets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Justin Delaney,<\/strong> Zurich&#8217;s CEO, says Wainwright brings a strong breadth of global experience to the role, paired with an impressive technical and leadership capability.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will play a key role in driving Zurich\u2019s local risk strategy against a backdrop of an increasingly complex environment. We look forward to welcoming him to Zurich\u2019s local leadership team in the new year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wainwright says he is honoured to be joining the Zurich team in Australia and looks forward to further evolving the team\u2019s strong risk management capability.<\/p>\n<p>Commencing in January 2025, he will report to <strong>Sid Medappa<\/strong>, Zurich\u2019s Regional Head of Risk for Asia Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>Zurich says Wainwright succeeds <strong>Jaimie Sach<\/strong>, who announced his retirement after holding the Chief Risk Officer role since 2019 and an extensive career in the wealth industry spanning more than 30 years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Zurich Financial Services Australia has appointed David Wainwright as Chief Risk Officer for Australia and New Zealand.
