{"id":76814,"date":"2025-04-10T16:41:05","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T05:41:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=76814"},"modified":"2025-04-17T12:36:17","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T01:36:17","slug":"call-to-build-better-client-relationships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2025\/04\/10\/call-to-build-better-client-relationships\/","title":{"rendered":"Call to Build Better Client Relationships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The customary focus on\u00a0client relationships\u00a0is in danger of being relegated to the back burner, says <strong>Terry Bell<\/strong>, a partner at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesshealth.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Health<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe see fewer practices seeking client feedback, while communication touch points have further reduced in terms of frequency and relevance,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>According to data shared by Bell, just 26% of firms are now actively seeking client feedback, down from 32% \u201ca few years ago\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>While practices retain all the standard policy and product information, he says less than 10% keep a record of key relationship building data.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_52600\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-52600\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-52600\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2020\/10\/Terry-Bell-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-52600\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Terry Bell&#8230; time to focus on client feedback.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This data includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wedding anniversaries<\/li>\n<li>Children\u2019s and grandchildren\u2019s birthdays<\/li>\n<li>Charitable and community interests<\/li>\n<li>Sporting preferences and favourite teams<\/li>\n<li>Next major holiday<\/li>\n<li>Preference for meetings (time and medium)<\/li>\n<li>Details of their other professional advisers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Analysis carried out by Business Health suggests practices that communicate with clients, on at least a monthly basis, achieve higher levels of profitability compared to those who don&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;clients don\u2019t care how much you know, until they know how much you care&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWhile this communication can be delivered in a variety of different formats, most important of all is that it actually occurs,\u201d says Bell.<\/p>\n<p>As for customer feedback, he says clients often welcome the opportunity to comment on their experience.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They just have to be asked,\u201d he says. \u201cAs the adage goes \u2013 &#8216;clients don\u2019t care how much you know, until they know how much you care&#8217;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to client meetings, Bell suggests a pre-meeting questionnaire can help clients prepare.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese meetings are where the rubber hits the road,\u201d he says. \u201cThey provide the perfect forum for you to showcase your capability and demonstrate to the client the value they\u2019re receiving for the fees they\u2019re paying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Bell says that by tracking and reporting on client feedback and satisfaction in your regular business meetings \u2013 including your annual business planning workshop \u2013 you\u2019ll be signalling a clear intention to the team that client centricity is more than just the latest catch cry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The customary focus on\u00a0client relationships\u00a0is in danger of being relegated to the back burner, says Terry Bell, a partner at Business Health. \u201cWe see fewer practices seeking client feedback, while communication touch points have further reduced in terms of frequency and relevance,\u201d he says.
