{"id":7769,"date":"2010-09-14T19:26:54","date_gmt":"2010-09-14T09:26:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=7769"},"modified":"2020-02-06T08:11:55","modified_gmt":"2020-02-05T21:11:55","slug":"advisers-pessimistic-about-their-future-poll-results","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2010\/09\/14\/advisers-pessimistic-about-their-future-poll-results\/","title":{"rendered":"Advisers Pessimistic About Their Future &#8211; Poll Results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/polls\/impact-of-the-return-of-the-labor-government-on-the-value-of-an-advice-practice\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1228         aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2009\/05\/vote-now.jpg\" alt=\"Vote Now!\" width=\"108\" height=\"47\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The return\u00a0of the Labor Government to power is being\u00a0seen by the vast majority of advisers as detrimental to the future growth prospects of their business.<\/p>\n<p>Three in every four\u00a0advisers taking part in our poll have indicated they believe the return of the Labor Government will have a significant negative impact on the future value of their practices.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->As we go to print, a further 14% believe there will be a minor\u00a0negative effect on their practice, which brings to 89% the proportion\u00a0of advisers who see the Labor Government&#8217;s return in a negative light when it comes to their future\u00a0livelihood.<\/p>\n<p>Comments we received following the launch of\u00a0 our poll last week varied, but the consistent threads included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dissatisfaction with the reform agenda\u00a0generated by the\u00a0Government following the fall-out from the Storm Financial disaster<\/li>\n<li>Objection to the perceived position of preference held by unions and industry funds in relation to Labor Government policy<\/li>\n<li>Objection to having Government legislate as to how an adviser should be paid<\/li>\n<li>Resolution that, in order to have their voices heard, advisers should be approaching the\u00a0New South Wales and Queensland-based\u00a0independent members of the House of Representatives to argue their case<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other\u00a0feedback related to\u00a0future remuneration concerns, but also concerns for\u00a0a large number of Australians who advisers believe will receive little to no investment or insurance advice if they are required to pay a fee to\u00a0access\u00a0that advice.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, however,\u00a0external consulting firms, dealer groups and financial institutions are\u00a0gearing up to offer a range of transition services for advisers to assist in the move from commission to fee for service, and\u00a0in a way that will continue to see clients receive the advice they need and in which advisers are appropriately rewarded for their services.<\/p>\n<p>Do you see this future?\u00a0 Or do you believe the value of advice practices will indeed be negatively impacted by the proposed reforms stemming from recommendations made in the\u00a0Ripoll, Cooper and Henry Reports?<\/p>\n<p>Our poll remains open for you to have your say&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/polls\/impact-of-the-return-of-the-labor-government-on-the-value-of-an-advice-practice\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1228         aligncenter\" style=\"border: 0px\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2009\/05\/vote-now.jpg\" alt=\"Vote Now!\" width=\"108\" height=\"47\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The return\u00a0of the Labor Government to power is being\u00a0seen by the vast majority of advisers as detrimental to the future growth prospects of their business.
