More than 200,000 people have used Willed<\/a> to write their will since the online service was launched by co-founders Aaron Zelman<\/strong>, Dave Kaplan<\/strong> and Tim Glasson<\/strong> in 2020.<\/p>\n

Zelman says the firm is on a mission to change the way Australians write their wills and \u201c\u2026prepare for what\u2019s ahead\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said Willed has strong support from the adviser community, who regularly buy credits for their clients to use the service as an onboarding gift or a service for existing clients.<\/p>\n

While retail pricing is set at $159 for an individual and $239 for a couple, Zelman says Willed also works with advisers to offer discounts for their clients.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe offer advisers the chance to give their clients access to reduced pricing as a reward for being a client of their firm\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Although advisers routinely ask their clients about their will as part of the fact-finding process, Zelman said recommendations to get one written are frequently ignored.<\/p>\n

For every client they refer to a trusted lawyer, how many go unserviced?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said many advisers are passionate about helping their clients get a will in place and are proactive in encouraging them to meet with a lawyer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s great that advisers have lawyers they refer to as part of their network,\u201d he said. \u201cI really encourage that as a general solution.<\/p>\n

“But advisers should be realistic about how suitable that solution is for many of their clients. For every client they refer to a trusted lawyer, how many go unserviced?<\/p>\n

\u201cI really think advisers should at least give clients the awareness that an alternative to seeing a traditional lawyer is available.\u201d<\/p>\n

Although Willed is an online service customers can use independently, Willed offers customers a review by lawyers at affiliate firm Willed Law who check that the documents have been correctly produced, said Zelman.<\/p>\n

Online wills written with the firm can be updated free of charge for 12 months.\u00a0In addition to online wills, the platform supports the creation of enduring powers of attorney and a bespoke offering is available where testamentary trusts are required.<\/p>\n
