{"id":79785,"date":"2025-10-21T10:24:29","date_gmt":"2025-10-20T23:24:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=79785"},"modified":"2025-10-21T10:32:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-20T23:32:37","slug":"feedback-wanted-on-life-insurance-code","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2025\/10\/21\/feedback-wanted-on-life-insurance-code\/","title":{"rendered":"Feedback Wanted on Life Insurance Code"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An independent review of the Life Insurance Code of Practice has opened to give the public and industry players an opportunity to provide feedback on how it&#8217;s performing and where \u00a0improvements could be made.<\/p>\n<p>The review, led by former ASIC Deputy Chair <strong>Peter Kell<\/strong>, is seeking submissions from consumers, advocacy groups, life insurers and other stakeholders by 15 December 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The review will assess whether the code continues to meet expectations, reflects current regulation, is practical and easy to understand.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_78286\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78286\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-78286\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2025\/07\/PETER-KELL-copy.jpg\" alt=\"Peter Kell\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-78286\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Peter Kell is to Chair a review of the Life Code.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kell said the consultation is a key step in developing recommendations to strengthen consumer protections.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe code plays a vital role in setting clear expectations for how life insurers interact with their customers,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis review is an opportunity to hear directly from customers and organisations who use, rely on, and are affected by the Life Code.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/lifecodereview.org.au\/make-a-submission\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> to make a submission.\u00a0An interim report is expected to be released for further consultation in early 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An independent review of the Life Insurance Code of Practice has opened to give the public and industry players an opportunity to provide feedback on how it&#8217;s performing and where \u00a0improvements could be made.
