{"id":79980,"date":"2025-11-03T08:48:03","date_gmt":"2025-11-02T21:48:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/?p=79980"},"modified":"2025-11-07T09:27:39","modified_gmt":"2025-11-06T22:27:39","slug":"acenda-group-formally-established","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2025\/11\/03\/acenda-group-formally-established\/","title":{"rendered":"Acenda Group Formally Established"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"header row\">\n<div class=\"intro\">\n<h3>The long-awaited formal establishment of Acenda Group, which brings three life insurance companies under a single brand, generated a high level of reader engagement this week&#8230;<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Acenda Group has been formally established following Nippon Life\u2019s completion of its acquisition of Resolution Life Group.<\/p>\n<p>The transaction combines three life insurance businesses \u2013 the former MLC Life Insurance business (now Acenda Life), Resolution Life Australasia, and Asteron Life New Zealand \u2013 creating one of the largest life insurers operating across Australia and New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Acenda Group CEO <strong>Chris de Bruin<\/strong> said the integration of the businesses will take place over time, with no changes to existing customer policies or claims processes.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_77786\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-77786\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-77786\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2025\/06\/Chris-de-Bruin.jpg\" alt=\"Chris de Bruin\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-77786\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Chris de Bruin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAs a combined group we are a stronger, growth-focused business, with the scale and stability to meet the evolving needs of our customers,&#8221; said de Bruin.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are focused on delivering on our promises to customers during the transition with no change to customer policies or their ability to make a claim.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Nippon Life President <strong>Satoshi Asahi<\/strong> said the acquisition reinforced the company\u2019s long-term commitment to the Australasian market and its ambition to expand globally.<\/p>\n<p>Acenda announced its leadership team last month, naming de Bruin as Group CEO. The team is listed below (see <a href=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/2025\/10\/21\/acenda-group-leadership-team-named\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acenda Group Leadership Team Named<\/a>):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sean McCormack<\/strong> \u2013 Group Chief Commercial Officer, overseeing product and distribution, and supporting the Group\u2019s planned expansion into longevity and retirement solutions<\/li>\n<li><strong>Andrew Beevors<\/strong> \u2013 Group Claims and Innovation Officer, responsible for the Group\u2019s Claims function and driving innovation in claims and customer care<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lisa Hayes<\/strong> \u2013 Group General Counsel, responsible for leading the Group\u2019s Legal and Corporate Services functions<\/li>\n<li><strong>Peter Histon<\/strong> \u2013 Group Chief Information Officer, leading the Group\u2019s infrastructure transformation, modernisation, and data initiatives<\/li>\n<li><strong>John Lucey<\/strong> \u2013 Group Chief Investment Officer, leading the Group\u2019s investment strategy and management of investment portfolios<\/li>\n<li><strong>Grant Willis<\/strong> \u2013 remains CEO of Asteron Life in New Zealand. Grant will join the Acenda Group Leadership Team and report to the Asteron Life Board<\/li>\n<li><strong>Jane Murray<\/strong> \u2013 continues as Chief Operating Officer for Acenda Life<\/li>\n<li><strong>Yvonne Le Bas<\/strong> \u2013 Group Chief Financial Officer (previously announced)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Karen Malzard<\/strong> \u2013 Group Chief Risk Officer (previously announced)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nupur Bhushan<\/strong> has been appointed Interim Group Chief People Officer to support the business through its initial phase of integration, while a search is ongoing for this role.
