The result follows months of concern about mass exits linked to education and qualification requirements.<\/p>\n<p>According to analysis by Padua Wealth Data\u2019s <strong>Colin Williams<\/strong>, while 14 new advisers joined the ranks, departures saw a net loss of five advisers. As of Thursday 8 January there were 15,145 advisers.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;the adviser market is still volatile&#8230;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe numbers show the adviser market is still volatile,\u201d says Williams. \u201cEarlier projections of much larger losses were based on ASIC\u2019s \u2018point in time\u2019 data, which showed many advisers without the required qualifications and few applying for the experienced pathway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs late as 20 November the situation looked dire, but many advisers have updated their records in recent weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As of 8 January ASIC&#8217;s FAR data, as shared by Williams, shows:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_57476\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-57476\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-57476\" src=\"https:\/\/riskinfo.com.au\/news\/files\/2021\/09\/Colin-Williams.jpg\" alt=\"Colin Williams, Wealth Data Insights.\" width=\"150\" height=\"180\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-57476\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Colin Williams.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li>213 advisers show no qualifications meeting the 2026 standards<\/li>\n<li>78 of those may be eligible for the experienced pathway<\/li>\n<li>66 advisers flagged for the experienced pathway took the FASEA Exam after October 2022 and are therefore likely to be ineligible for the experienced pathway<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Licensee activity remained positive, with five new licensees commencing operations so far this year \u2013 including two recommencements \u2013 while only one licensee exited the market.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1 December 2025, a total of 440 advisers have ceased, a figure Williams described as \u201cnot insignificant\u201d, but notably lower than earlier forecasts.<\/p>\n<p>While \u201cthe worst appears to have passed\u201d resolving outstanding qualification issues will take time says Williams.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The number of financial advisers has held up better than expected in the first week of the New Year.
