This is a much-needed outcome that will better serve the best interests of consumers. But to what extent are those Australians who are already engaging with financial planners and generalist advisers missing out on this much-needed advice element?<\/p>\n<p>Years ago &#8211; we&#8217;re talking the 1990s and earlier 2000s, many financial planners scoped any life insurance out of their advice proposition &#8211; for some, because they had the attitude that they were &#8216;above selling life insurance&#8217; and for others because they weren&#8217;t sufficiently confident from an expertise and\/or complexity perspective. But for whatever reason life insurance was scoped out of these financial planners&#8217; advice propositions, many, many of these clients simply went without that advice, rather than the planner directing their client to a colleague from within their practice or to a trusted referral partner.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;EVERY advised client should have access to life insurance advice relevant to their circumstances<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Fast forward to 2026, where all advisers are subject to the same minimum education and qualification standards, where the best interests of the client is now a statute under law, where compliance and audit checking reign supreme and where risk commissions are capped. In this era, many have argued to Riskinfo and have advocated publicly that EVERY advised client should have access to life insurance advice relevant to their circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>So, this poll is challenging you to reflect on the extent to which you think these financial planning (and general advice) clients are given the opportunity to access life insurance advice in 2026 appropriate to their circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Should life insurance referrals from planners and perhaps generalist advisers for the more complex cases happen more than is presently the case?
