AFA CEO, Richard Klipin, will be stepping down from his post to become the new CEO at dealer group, Millennium3.

Mr Klipin was the first CEO appointed by the AFA, following a 2005 review of the Association’s direction.  Under his leadership, the AFA has risen to become a strong voice in representing the interests of financial advisers and in advancing the industry agenda to serve the best interests of Australian consumers.

AFA Treasurer and immediate-past President Brad Fox, will step in as interim CEO, pending an executive search for Mr Klipin’s replacement.

… after almost seven fantastic years as CEO, it is time to pass the baton

Mr Klipin, who will commence at Millennium3 in mid February 2013, said it has been an honour to lead the AFA. “The decision to leave has been a very difficult one personally, however after almost seven fantastic years as CEO, it is time to pass the baton. I leave with a great sense of pride. The passion, professionalism and the culture of the AFA community is outstanding, and I know that the future is in great hands.”

Thanking Mr Klipin for his pivotal role in engineering the Association’s transformation during his tenure, National President, Michael Nowak, said Mr Klipin had developed a very strong leadership team. “The AFA now has a strong National Board, robust committee structures and working groups, a strong media voice and partnership offer, engagement with all parts of government, regulators and stakeholders, as well as a growing presence in education,” said Mr Nowak.

In announcing Mr Klipin’s apointment to advisers within the Millennium3 network, Neil Younger, OnePath’s Head of Practice Based Financial Planning, confirmed that the current joint Managing Directors, Barry Martin and Darryl Foster, will remain in the business as Dealer Principals.  He said Mr Martin will continue to focus on adviser development and recruitment, while Mr Foster will take on the role of the group’s chief operating officer.
